The Groom a Leader programme is conceptualised by the WIEF Young Leaders Network. It is a two-pronged programme aimed at increasing scholarship and internship activities in the Muslim world. The scholarship component of this programme works on the model of "multiple stakeholdership". In other words, rather than consigning the burden of financing to a single financial institution, we are opening up the opportunity to various organizations to finance one student each. By having one corporation financing one student, the financial burden becomes significantly less. But if you multiply that model to include an array of organisations spanning the Muslim world, the impact would be huge and that could mean more opportunities for education to those promising young Muslims out there.

The internship component is a simple practical programme in which interested corporations can pledge to accept interns from different organisations in other parts of the Muslim world on a few months to a year basis. Seems simple but we are actually talking about skills transfer and exchange of best practices on a massive scale in the Muslim world. In addition, we strengthen the cooperation between the young Muslims and get them to learn about each other's culture and practices in the most immersive of places – the workplace, where the pooling of ideas and convergence of interests on specific projects of common concern takes place.
